Unilever’s commitment to Ghana stretches back over 200 years. Over that time, the company has invested not only in the country’s economy and in the skills of its employees, but also in a wide range of community initiatives, particularly in the areas of Health, Nutrition, Hygiene, Education, Women Empowerment, the Environment.
The Corporate Relations Department leads the company’s CSR initiatives in the following ways:

- Excellence Awards for best Graduating Students from Public Tertiary Institutions
- Postgraduate Research Grants for Chemistry, Medicine, Economics, Food and Crop Science
- Establishment of Professorial Chairs in the Public Universities for Chemistry, Teacher Education and Business Management
- Entrepreneurial development Training for Small & Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs)
Health
- Provision of Ambulance to major hospitals throughout he country
- Provision of Potable water to deprived Communities
HIV/AIDS
Our employees in
- Collaboration with Ghana AIDS Commission and Ghana Business Coalition against HIV/AIDS to create awareness and educate employees and the general public on methods of prevention
- Fund raising Walk in support of people living with the disease
- Peer Educators’ activities in the local communities around the Tema Factory and the Plantations
Through our brands
Since 1996, Unilever Ghana and the GDA have reached over three million school children in the country through its Social Mission programme, which seeks to educate and provide oral care services in both rural and urban areas
Others
- Partnership with World Food Programme (WFP): Fund Raising Walk to raise awareness on Child Hunger dubbed “Walk the World: End Hunger”
- Partnership with Community Water & Sanitation Agency (CWSA) and UNICEF to create awareness on the importance of Handwashing with soap at critical times
- Volunteerism: Employees volunteer one hour a week to teach in deprived schools in the local communities around the Tema Factory
